    Please contact the school health office if:                 

  • You have any questions or concerns

  • Your child requires medication to be given at school

  • There is a change in the health status of your child, ie:

    • A new medical diagnosis

    • A significant illness (especially flu or strep infection) or injury

    • Admitted to hospital

    • Starts or stops taking medication (this helps to monitor side effects, health status or performance at school)

    • Information is kept confidential & only shared with teacher/other staff at your request or if required to prevent emergencies. Please do not assume that telling another staff member means that the health office has been notified. 

  • Please call or email  the health office with any updates 

 

Updated Covid Guidelines

If your child has tested positive for Covid: 

  • Stay home for 5 days after symptom onset. 
  • Your child can return on day 6 while wearing a mask. They must wear a mask on days 6 to 10.
  • They must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications when they return 

 

If your child has been exposed to Covid:

  • They can come to school if they are symptom free
  • They should take an at home Covid test on day 5 after the exposure.

 

School Exclusion Criteria:  

If your child is sent home from school with the following symptoms: 

  • Fever
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting 

They can return to school when they have been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of symptom reducing medication. 

 

If your child has had these symptoms at home, please do not send them to school until they are symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication. 

 

State Mandated School Health Screenings: 
 
Students in NJ are required to have the following health screenings in school:
 
Kindergarten to Grade 4: weight, height, blood pressure
 
Kindergarten to Grade 2 and Grade 4: Vision Screening
  • If the screening comes back at 20/40 or greater a recommendation  will be sent home for an eye doctor evaluation.
  • If your child wears glasses they will be tested with their glasses on.

Per Jennifer Leon, staff will continue working and providing services from hospital. They will do the first intake
with clients by phone and will accept documentation for applications via traditional mail. Once documentation is
received, in‐person appointment will be scheduled and client will be notified of the guidelines enforced at the
hospital to enter the building.

The NJ Department of Human Services operates a toll free “warm line” which is a resource for people seeking mental health service.

The warm line is activated during events that impact the mental health of New Jersey residents.  

The warm line is available 24 hours and has language access.  Call (877) 294-HELP (4357) for assistance.

 

 

Hunterdon County Social Services:

During this public health crisis,  Social Services  can conduct interviews by phone. Applicants do not need to come into the office to apply.

Residents are encouraged to call Social Services at 908-788-1300 if they have an emergency housing need.
