To The High Bridge School Community
As June 18th draws near, I would like to express how much I have enjoyed working with the children, parents and staff of High Bridge Schools. I sincerely believe that the children in High Bridge Schools will define the future and be the leaders of tomorrow, for collectively, their talents seem limitless.
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY SUMMER!
Sincerely,
Dr. Pat Ash
P.S. Eighth graders, we’ll
miss you!!
Fifth Grade Orientation - Welcome to the Middle School
Thank you to all the eighth grade Student Leaders who participated in the Fifth Grade Move Up Day program on Tuesday, May 27th. These students spoke to the fifth grade students and were in charge of touring the middle school with individual groups. Thank you again for helping to make this program so successful!
On the evening of May
28th, parents of our incoming sixth grade class were invited to attend our
Annual Sixth Grade Parent Orientation. During the evening, parents had an
opportunity to meet their child’s prospective teachers, become familiar with
the sixth grade curriculum, tour the facility and learn about supplemental and
co-curricular programs. We’re looking forward to greeting the “Class of 2011”
in September!
Report Cards
Report cards will be
distributed to those students meeting all school obligations (such as returning
all books, paying outstanding fines, etc.) on Wednesday, June 18, 2007. There is
a 1:00 p.m. dismissal for all students on that day.
Science Expo at the Middle School
The winning students of
our Science Expo held in April participated in the County Science Expo, which
was held on Saturday, May 10th at North Hunterdon High School. All the students
participating received pencils and water bottles. There were several prizes and
these were distributed by the raffle process. Pizza and soda was provided for
lunch. Scientists from Dow Chemical, Pfizer, Foster Wheeler and Exxon Mobil
circulated among all the participants and discussed their projects with them.
Mrs. Sutton, Mrs. Paridy, Mrs. Vuocolo and Mr. Kovacs were most instrumental in
making this a successful learning experience.
Tournament of Champions
The Tournament of
Champions was held this year on May 27th at Delaware Valley High School.
Participants enjoyed exciting competition and it was a great day for all. Thanks
to Mrs. Pat Tuma for coordinating the Middle School participants. All students
in attendance were recognized for their achievements.
Summer Music Program
A summer instrumental
music program for students entering grades four through eight (next year’s
grade) will be held from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Middle School. The program
will run from Tuesday, July 1, 2008 through Thursday, July 31, 2008. If
additional information is needed, please call Mr. Jeffrey Thompson, Band
Director, at the Middle School (638-4101).
Lost and Found
Please be aware that there
are many unclaimed items in the Lost and Found Box located in the cafeteria at
the Middle School. Please check for missing items before the end of the year.
The items not claimed will be disposed of. Thank you.
Nurse’s Cap by Diane Bartiromo
I Screen, You Screen…we all screen with sunscreen---to keep from getting burned!
The role of sunscreens is to absorb, reflect or scatter damaging UV rays before they have a chance to interact with the skin. Most sunscreens do a good job blocking UVB but fewer filter UVA rays. When protecting your skin, you need a product to block both UVA and UVB rays. It is important also that when using sunscreen that we follow directions.
In order for the sunscreen to work efficiently remember the following:
|
Apply sunscreen 20-30 minutes before going into the sun so it can be absorbed by the skin and become less likely to wash off when you perspire.
|
Use approximately one ounce of sunscreen, about enough to fill a shot glass, to properly cover the exposed areas of your body. (less for a small child)
|
Apply sunscreen on all parts of your skin exposed to the sun, including the ears, back, shoulders, the back of your knees and legs, and your feet. Don’t forget your face, but be careful when applying sunscreen around the eyes so you do not irritate them. Use a lip balm with sunscreen.
|
Re-apply as often as directed, especially if you’re going in and out of the water or sweating. Even waterproof sunscreen will wash off, and all sunscreens will rub off. |
Please enjoy your summer and stay safe. Use bicycle helmets when appropriate but remove them when on the playground. Swim with a buddy, obey all swimming rules, and use sunscreen.
Remember also to hydrate yourself with a non-caffeinated beverage. See you back here at the Health Office in September!!!!
Congratulations to our
graduates! Here’s wishing you good luck and success in your high school years.

Eighth Grade Dinner Dance
“Loved It!” “Great
Time!” “Could have danced all night”. These were just a few of the
positive comments made by the eighth graders about the totally successful dinner
dance held at Beaver Brook Country Club on May 30, 2008. The eighth graders all
looked “better than great” and all I can say is that the Parent
Coordinators, Mrs. Dean, Mrs. Eglesia and Mrs. Musnuff sure know how to throw a
party. Thank you to these three ladies and to their committee.
Sports News - Ms. Nicole DiGeronimo and Ms. Melissa Dilgard, Athletic Directors
Softball - Coach Melissa Dilgard
The softball team improved a great deal this year. The teams final record was 2-5. The girls started off the season strong by knocking off Clinton Public and Franklin Township. They played their hearts out and with great confidence every game. Thank you all for a great season. Good luck to all the 8th graders in high school. You all will be greatly missed.
Coach Dilgard
Intramural Golf - Coach Michael Doerwang
I would like to recognize all the students who participated in the Golf Club this year. Have a great summer and I invite you all to come out for golf again next year.
Coach Doerwang
Sports Physicals - Mrs. Diane Bartiromo
Please remember to mark your calendar if your child will have a sports physical this summer by our school physician. The date is scheduled for August 28th. I will send a postcard in the mail a few weeks before as a reminder.
Physician order forms will be mailed to your home if your child had a physician order on file this past school year for any type of medication other than Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen or Benadryl. Forms will be mailed the last day of school so please be looking for the envelope in your mail. Please complete these over the summer and return to the school office or bring them to me the first day of school along with the medication ordered.
If your child will require a medication for the 08-09 school year and has not previously taken a medication in school, please call the Health Office before the last day of school so that I can mail forms to your home. Remember throughout the school year, if your child requires medication (prescription or an over-the-counter) other than the three mentioned above, a written physician order is required along with parental consent to administer in school. Forms are available throughout the school year by request.
See you in September!
Students will return to School on Wednesday, September 3, 2008
